DESIGN STORY
A Flower Defined by Its Edge
A white poppy opens in broad layers, but it is the irregular edge of each petal that gives the flower its character.
Dan translates that movement into metal through hand-shaped lines that twist, separate and gather again along the outer contour. Rather than smoothing the flower into perfect symmetry, the design keeps the uneven rhythm of the original petals.
At the center, a single pearl-look accent creates a calm focal point against the restless movement of the surrounding bloom.

FORM & RHYTHM
Lines Breaking at the Edge
Fine metallic lines begin close together near the center before spreading outward through overlapping layers.
As they approach the edge, the lines bend, divide and gather into irregular fringed contours. Some sections rise sharply while others soften and fold back, creating a surface that feels in motion rather than fixed.
The open construction leaves space between individual strands, allowing light and the surface beneath the brooch to become part of the changing form.

MADE TO BE WORN
A Bloom with Movement
The broad flower creates a deliberate focal point on a jacket, coat or dress, while the open construction prevents the form from feeling visually dense.
From the front, the pearl-look center anchors the composition. As the wearer turns, the irregular outer edges and overlapping lines reveal changing depths throughout the flower.
The piece never appears completely still — different curves catch the light from different directions, allowing the silhouette to shift subtly with movement.
Beauty is felt.
